Description: DECA promotes marketing, management and entrepreneurship! It's an opportunity to gain valuable experience through competitions, leadership conferences and volunteering.

Description: Students compete at invitationals, sub-district, district and state meets in one of 15 different events, from comedy to acting and reading.

Description: HOSA is a health science club where students learn and practice leadership, service, and community outreach in various settings. Students in HOSA are encouraged to be involved in a variety of activities that include socializing, volunteering, fundraising, and even competing in their healthcare interests.

Activity Time Period: School year (meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of the month with additional information posted on Canvas)

Eligibility Requirements: Any student who is taking or has taken a health science class or anyone interested in a career in the health field.

Description: The math team will participate in four math meets at Madison area high schools. There will be two or three practices at school leading up to the meets. Other opportunities are provided, but vary year-to-year, based on student interest.

Description: Simulate the United Nations, with members taking on the role of another country in the UN. Members prepare for conferences by researching their country and topic and writing short position papers. Members then attend conferences, representing their country and writing resolutions to current issues. We attend at least three conferences annually, one in the Madison area and one 4-day conference in downtown Chicago. In addition, every other year students have the opportunity to take a trip out of the Midwest. Each conference is treated as a mini-season. Members can choose how many conferences they would like to attend.

Description: The National Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. NHS honor students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.

Description: Science club is a place for those who are curious about science. We try to get hands-on with science by doing weekly activities and experiments. We occasionally go on field trips or have guest speakers. Science Club members can also compete in the Science Olympiad, which is a statewide competition with more than 20 science/engineering events to choose from.

Description: This co-curricular group is focused on taking your current skills or your serious interest related to Tech Ed or a CTE program and helping you develop your skills through practice and competition with other schools throughout Wisconsin. There are 70+ fields students can compete in, such as Architecture, Construction, Graphic Design, Electronics, Robotics, Engineering, Metalworking and Woodworking. 

Activity Time Period: District Competition - December, Regional Competition - January / February, State Competition - April

Eligibility Requirements: Any student interested in learning new skills related to STEM Fields and Career and Technical Education. Areas of competition are commonly related to Tech Ed classes.

Description: The MGHS Writing Club provides students with a space to write about what matters to them.

Activity Time Period: throughout the school year on Tuesdays after school

Description: A competitive club sport teaching the game of bowling.

Activity Time Period: Tryouts/practice begins October 1st with matches/competition starting early November. Practices are every Wednesday from October 1st to Mid-January. Matches/competitions are every Monday from November to January. 

Eligibility: Open to all!  Anyone not on the 6-7 person varsity roster will be on the JV roster.

Description: Our goal is to be all-inclusive and work on developing interpersonal skills, mentoring, relationships, and teaching new fishing techniques. This opportunity will allow students to engage in outdoor activities, learn a new life skill, and become ambassadors for the sport of fishing.

Description: The motivation for this club is to provide an opportunity for Monona Grove students to engage with nature, practice simple mindfulness, and become aware of the natural world firsthand. 

Activity Time Period: October through April

Description: Intramural seasons include volleyball (fall) and basketball (winter).  Leagues are open to all students regardless of gender, grade, and skill level (members of school volleyball and basketball teams are excluded, however).  For basketball season, an attempt will be made to operate two separate leagues: competitive and recreational.  Teams participate in round robin league play. Teams are then seeded according to records for a single elimination tournament. Some special adapted rules are used to keep games moving and to end on time.

Activity Time Period: Volleyball: begins first week of October, Basketball: begins first week of second semester, Games scheduled BEFORE school (7:15) on mostly Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

Description: Living out your faith - or even having one - is difficult to do. At SEAOF we are all in this together.

Eligibility Requirements: None - you do not have to be an athlete or affiliated with any faith.

Description: Hit the slopes and shred the gnar with your fellow MG students. 

Activity Time Period: Winter; trip dates vary based on the school calendar, but typically Fridays after school.

Eligibility Requirements: We follow the athletic code requirements for participation.

Description: A guided workout made up of dynamic/static exercises used to improve physical performance.

Activity Time Period: School year; 3:45-4:45pm

Description: An audition ensemble that sings a capella music. The group performs for some choir and special events throughout the year.

Activity Time Period: Weekly practices before school from October through May

Eligibility: Students must audition, and be enrolled in a year long performing music class.

Description: Art Club is an open studio environment in which students interested in pursuing art activities outside of class meet to work on creative projects. Students take part in activities to promote art in the community. Students may participate in an annual art trip and help with fundraising.

Description: Students compete at sub-district, district and state levels in drama by performing in or assisting with the one-act play. Students also perform a full-length production each year.

Description: Top Jazz band membership by audition. Students get to attend state jazz festivals, sponsor big band dances and perform at community group meetings.

Description: Muddy Buddies is an open ceramics studio. Local artists and students work together in community on their ceramics projects. Local artists present and share their artwork, give demonstrations, and students learn and create in community with them. 

Activity Time Period: Tuesdays, 6:00-8:00pm during the school year

Eligibility Requirements: Students who are enrolled in a Ceramics class or have taken and passed Ceramics 1

Description: Students work collaboratively to rehearse and perform a Broadway musical, learning elements of acting, stage management, vocal performance, choreography, and many life skills along the way.

Eligibility Requirements: By audition and director approval.  Pit Orchestra music is extremely challenging and students should be playing at a Class A solo/ensemble level.

Description: A traveling, competitive singing and dancing group that takes great pride in creating a unique themed show focusing on excellent vocal production, cohesive interaction with the show band, and creative movement. Crew members help with everything from costumes, sound, organization and travel. 

Activity Time Period: Last week of August through mid-February. Weekly rehearsals are Monday nights. January through February require Monday and Friday rehearsals and competitions on Saturdays.

Eligibility Requirements: Performers (singers and band members): audition in May and must be enrolled in a performance class for a full year. Crew: If interested, please reach out to Ms. Crego (no audition required).

Description: The purpose of the club is to promote the enjoyment and the learning of the French language and associated cultures. club activities include: fundraising for educational and travel scholarships, cooking demos, dinner and movie nights featuring French films, museum and restaurant visits, guest speakers, petanque tournaments and a trip to a French speaking country.

Description: The purpose of the club is to promote the enjoyment and the learning of the Spanish language and associated cultures. Club activities include: movie nights, field trips, cooking events, cultural games and activities.

Description: Asian Club's goal is building community with Asian American and Pacific Islander students and staff. Folks of all races and ethnicities are welcome to join of course! Throughout the year, we plan social gatherings, educational events, presentations of culture, service-learning, advocacy, and more. 

Activity Time Period: Asian Club meets all throughout the year. We currently meet Thursday mornings before school in Ms. Sobotik's art room. Some events are planned for after school and the weekend.

Description: Students who are interested in learning the technical and creative aspects of audio and video production as well as broadcast journalism. Students will learn techniques in scriptwriting, on-camera announcing, as well as audio & video production. MGAV members produce the MGHS morning announcements, news segments for the City of Monona, record and broadcast MG Sports and Fine Arts activities on YouTube and Community Access TV. In addition, members can be involved in the City of Monona’s Community Radio Station, 98.7FM WVMO.

Description: BSU creates opportunities to promote an anti-bias and anti-racist school community. We strive to increase awareness of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) experiences. We engage with the community and school district through volunteerism. BSU visits college campuses and attends college and career fairs to assist students with their post-secondary options.  We also collaborate with the elementary schools and middle school to partner with staff to promote equitable relationships and diverse experiences with younger students.

Description: The Chess Club is an opportunity for beginners to learn the game and for chess players receive instruction to improve their game.  Students play other students in friendly competitions.  The Club Championship takes place in February.  Lunch chess takes place on Thursdays.  All students can play.

Description: D&D Club is a group of students who share a common interest in Dungeons & Dragons. Students form groups to complete a campaign led by their Dungeon Master.

Description: Latinos United is a club for everyone! We discuss important and current topics surrounding the Latino Culture. We cook Spanish food, we speak in Spanish and in English, we go on field trips, have guest speakers, play Spanish games and more! Any and Everyone is welcome to join.

Description: Monona Grove Mystics Club is an opportunity to learn about astrology, tarot, crystals, etc. Here in this sacred space, you will find wonderful friends, lots of knowledge, and a place to expand your understanding of the universe.
